1. Check The Available Space In The Hard Drive

Before you move to advanced options, it is worth checking the space. See if your hard drive (HDD or SSD) has enough space. Sometimes, we make an error in distributing the space. 

So, make sure to check it twice before you move to other options.

2. Remove Other Storage Devices And Peripherals

The next step is to remove all the other storage devices you might have. Sometimes, Windows installation could pick other devices. It could interfere with the system. So go ahead and check for the following:

  • List all hard drives and remove the SATA or USB for all of them except the one you want to use.
  • If removing HDD is too much, you can use a BIOS setup to disable all HDDs except the one you will use. 
  • Check each USB port and make sure that there isn’t any USB Flash Drive or other USB drives connected.

3. Set The First Boot Device From BIOS

Once you remove all the other devices, reboot your system. Enter the BIOS. Each motherboard or manufacturer has a different way of Entering BIOS. So, you will have to Google yours.

Once you’re in the BIOS, set the Boot Device to the hard drive you will use for installation. Make sure to disable any other option and restart the PC. This should do the job. 

4. Use The Diskpart Utility

 There is a built-in option with Installer that can solve the issue. It is known as the Diskpart Utility. If you’ve tried other solutions and nothing worked, try this:

  • When you get the ‘We Couldn’t Create A New Partition’ error, find and click on the Repair Button. It will be available in the list of options.
  • Find the Advanced Tools option. From there, you will launch the Command Prompt.
  • Once the command prompt opens, type starts diskpart, and hit enter.
  • Everything will rely on commands. Next, type list disk.
  • This will display all the active HDDs currently connected.
  • Now, find the hard drive number that you’re going to install windows into. Type: select disk [number]. Replace the number with the number of the hard drive according to the command prompt. 
  • Follow the command sequence prompts, and don’t forget to press enter after each:
  • clean
  • create partition primary
  • active
  • format fs=ntfs quick 
  • assign
  • Once done with the following lines, type exit and hit enter. 

Now restart the installation and see if this fixes the We Couldn’t Create A New Partition issue. 

5. Create A New Boot Device
