How To Create A Document Workspace In SharePoint 2013

SharePoint 2013 does not have the Document Workspace template out of the box, but you can still create a Document Workspace using the Files tab in the ribbon. Follow these step-by-step instructions to easily create a Document Workspace in SharePoint 2013.

To begin, click on the Files tab in SharePoint 2013 and select the New Document icon to create a new document. Once the document is created, go back to the Files tab and select the document. From there, click on the Send To option in the ribbon.

In the Send To menu, choose Create Document Workspace. You will then be presented with a screen where you can choose default options or make any desired changes. Once you are done, click OK to proceed.

The Document Workspace template will open, and a copy of your document will be loaded into the Documents Library. To send the document back to the source location, simply click on the Files tab again, select the document, and click on the Send To icon. From the dropdown, choose Other Location.

In the Copy window, you will find the URL and File Name pre-filled. If needed, you can make any necessary adjustments and then click OK to proceed. The copy operation will be successful, and you can check the document in the initial document library to ensure that the changes were pushed in.

It’s worth mentioning that the Document Workspace feature has been discontinued or modified in SharePoint 2013, as all its functionality is now available with the Team Site template.
