How To Create A Calendar In SharePoint

Creating a calendar in SharePoint is a simple process that can be done using either a calendar app or a custom list with the calendar template. In SharePoint Online, you have the option to add a calendar app or create a custom list with the calendar template.

To add a calendar app, go to the site contents and click “New,” then select “App.” Search for the “Calendar” app, enter a name, and click “Create.” This will add a new calendar to your site contents, ready for you to start adding events.

If you prefer to create a custom list with the calendar template, go to the site contents, click “New,” and select “List.” In the “New List” dialog box, click “From existing list” and choose the “Calendar” template. Enter a name and description, then click “Create.” This will create a custom calendar that you can add items to and view in calendar format.

Aside from creating the calendar, you can also customize its settings to suit your needs. For instance, enabling versioning allows you to track changes in the calendar. To do this, go to the calendar settings and click on “Versioning settings.” Select “Yes” for creating a version each time you edit an item, and click “OK.”

If you want to display the calendar on a page, you can easily add the calendar app. To do this, edit the page, place the mouse cursor where you want to add the calendar, open the “INSERT” tab, and click on “Web Part.” Choose the calendar app you created and click “Add.” Save the page, and the calendar will be displayed accordingly.

Creating a calendar in SharePoint allows you to efficiently organize events, appointments, and meetings. You can customize the calendar views, set reminders, and effectively manage the calendar according to your specific requirements.

Customizing and Displaying the SharePoint Calendar

Once you have created a calendar in SharePoint, you can further customize its settings and display it on a page for easy access and visibility. SharePoint offers various options to personalize your calendar and make it more tailored to your specific needs.

One of the customization options is enabling versioning, which allows you to track changes made to the calendar. By enabling versioning, you can ensure that any modifications or updates to the calendar are recorded and easily traceable. To enable versioning, simply go to the calendar settings, click on “Versioning settings,” and select “Yes” for creating a version each time you edit an item.

In addition to versioning, you can also add the calendar app to a page within your SharePoint site. This allows you to display the calendar on a specific page, making it easily accessible for users who need to view or interact with it. To add the calendar app to a page, edit the page, navigate to the “INSERT” tab, click on “Web Part,” select the calendar app you created, and click “Add.” Once you save the page, the calendar will be displayed and ready for use.

With the ability to customize and display your SharePoint calendar, you can effectively manage and organize your events, appointments, and meetings. Take advantage of the customization settings available to ensure the calendar meets your requirements, and make it accessible to your team by displaying it on a page within your SharePoint site.
