Fix: Bluetooth Mouse Not Working in Windows

There could be several issues due to which this Bluetooth mouse not working in Windows may be occurring. Some of the wireless Bluetooth devices expect you to install preferred software before usage.

And, few expect you to set up the preferred windows or mac environment drivers specific to that operating system. That sometimes becomes an issue, which results in errors while we try to use that wireless device or the application. 

To fix all the issues, you will need to spend some time looking for the problem. Firstly on your PC then, with your wireless device. Then you’ll spend some minutes looking for the manual provided with your wireless tool to find why your Bluetooth mouse, not working.

Turn Your Windows 10 Bluetooth Off and Back On Again:

On your PC, what you can initially try doing is turn off the Bluetooth and, after a few turns, turn the Bluetooth back on again.

Wait but, how this could help to fix the issue! Here’s how – Sometimes software stops working due to the excess load, which alters the software from running, and prevents it from functioning the way it should. And, at that moment, turning the Bluetooth off and on again could fix the problem.

1. Open Settings.

2. Search for Bluetooth and press enter.
3. Once you open it, you can turn on and off the Bluetooth using the switch easily.

Remove and Reconnect the USB Receiver:

Another thing that could be creating the issue that the Bluetooth mouse not working may occur due to the improper juncture of the USB receiver. And, to fix this, you need to eject the USB receiver and plug it back in again in a minute or two.

Most probably, these tiny issues cause the problem. So, make sure! Whenever you connect any other device with your PC, do re-check all the connections are proper. 

Recharge or Replace the Mouse Battery:

You are smart, I know! But, we all are humans and we all make mistakes and learn. Your Bluetooth mouse could be uncharged. Try charging your Bluetooth mouse and then using it again. And if the issue continues then, try replacing the battery and then using it again. 

Turn the Mouse’s Power Switch Off and On:

As we have discussed earlier, switching the power off and on does help. Do the same with your wireless Bluetooth mouse. Try switching off and on a few times and then reconnecting it with your windows.

Pair the Bluetooth Mouse With Your Windows 10 Again:

If that too doesn’t work, try repairing the Bluetooth mouse with your windows after disconnecting. To do that, you need to perform the following task –

1. Go to the Settings and search for Bluetooth.

2. Once you open the Bluetooth settings, remove your Bluetooth mouse from the paired devices.

4. Now, try pairing back with your windows. You can also try first rebooting your windows then pairing back.

Check Your Windows 10 Mouse Preferences:

If the problem still prevails, then there are possibilities that your windows automatically disconnect your Bluetooth mouse when in power-saving mode. Windows by default, when in power saving mode, disconnects the other power-consuming devices to save battery, which creates issues for us a few times.

To make sure this is not the problem quickly, do this check – 

1. Go to the Settings and search for the device manager. You can also open the device manager directly by searching it on the taskbar. 
2. In the device manager, display for Mice and other pointing devices once you double-click on it. 

3. All the mouse devices will show up beneath it. 
4. Now select your Bluetooth mouse and open properties. In properties, choose the power management. 

5. Now, in power management, you will see a few checkboxes. In those uncheck the one which says – “Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power.” And, Click OK!

Install Support Software for Third-Party Bluetooth Mice:

In the digital market, there are a bulk of different devices available. Although they perform similar tasks, a few will ask you to install the selected third-party software to work suitably. 

And if we want to continue using it, then we need to install the supporting software. 

Now, how to install it? 

You must have received manuals and a CD for the installation of the software with your mouse. You can use it for installation. Or you can install the supporting software from the official site of the mouse manufacturing company you are using. Go to the official site and render the mouse model. And install the supporting software for your Bluetooth device.

Debug the Bluetooth Module on Your Windows 10:

If none of the above solutions worked for you then, try troubleshooting your Bluetooth module. It may help you in case. 

For this, follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Open Settings of your windows.
2. Now, directly search for Bluetooth Troubleshooting in settings. 
3. Once you do so, the search bar will show all the suggestions, choose the one saying – “Find and fix problems with Bluetooth devices” and press enter. 

4. Now, if you click on it, a new pop-up window will appear on your screen. Just click next!

5. As soon as you click next, the Bluetooth troubleshooter will start detecting the issues to fix them.
6. Once done, the Bluetooth troubleshooter will show that the “Troubleshooting is complete.” And will illustrate and resolve all the issues for you.

Close the troubleshooter and try connecting the Bluetooth mouse again. For almost all, these troubleshooting steps will fix the issue of the Bluetooth mouse not working. But, if it doesn’t help you! Try doing the next step.  

Update the System Software on Your Windows 10:

And, this is why every person using tech gadgets suggested keeping their system updated always. Because, if your windows are not up to date. Then the device you are trying to use may crash, causing you unnecessary trouble. 

To check if your windows are up to date or not, follow the instructions below:

1. Open Settings of your windows 10.
2. Once you open it on the top right corner of your windows settings screen, you’ll see the windows update icon. Go and click it!

3. Now, whatever updates are available, install it.

Now, Your windows will get updated in the next few minutes. And if it was already up to date. Then move to the next step.

Delete Mouse Temporary Files:

Till now! We have checked almost all the issues, which could be raising the issue! Bluetooth mouse, not working. But if you’re facing the same problem, then you can try this last thing to make it work, deleting all the temporary files. And to do this, you’ll need to open Run by searching it on the taskbar.

You can delete all the temporary files of the mouse in these three steps –

1. Open Run by searching it on the taskbar. 
2. Now, type %temp% in the Run and press enter.
3. It will open a folder on your system. Now, select all and choose delete.

Don’t worry! It will not delete any important files from your computer system. Now, try re-pairing your Bluetooth mouse. If it gets deleted then you can easily recover your data using any of the available data recovery software
