  • Select your SD card by tapping “Your own folder” and then select it. Additionally, you can store it in your internal storage, allowing you to upload it to the cloud or your computer.
  • SMS Backup & Restore permits hourly, daily, or weekly backup updates. Select the desired option and touch “Backup now” to create a backup file.

Since the data is stored in an XML file, it’s compatible with all Android devices, regardless of their make or model.

  • From your home screen or app drawer, launch SMS Backup & Restore.
  • Click on Restore.
  • Select the checkboxes next to the backups you want to restore. You may back up call logs and SMS messages depending on what you choose to back up.
  • Tap the arrow next to the SMS messages backups if you have multiple backups stored and want to restore a specific one.
  • Click on Restore.
  • Tap OK. In this info box, you’re informed that SMS Backup and Restore needs to be temporarily set as your default messaging app to restore your messages.
  • Click on Yes. It will restore the messages and/or call logs.
  • Tap Close once the restore is completed.
